30 Days and Counting....

I have done it! I have stuck to a commitment for 30 days straight! I just wanted to share that with you all in hopes that it will encourage you.

30 days is a long time.......kind of.

I had 2 resolutions for this year. 1. read the Bible in a year, following the plan that my Bible lays out. 2. Take at least 1 picture every day. I have done it....for 30 days! You can read about it here. I needed a way to keep me accountable, so I started a blog about it.

It has turned into a pretty great routine too. Every day I get up early, let Linus out, make coffee, turn on Pandora.com (internet radio), and read my Bible! I have finished Genesis and Exodus. I am almost half way through Leviticus.

I AM LEARNING SO MUCH! I didn't grow up in the church or really do much of anything church-related until highschool. There are so many stories in the Bible that I have heard mentioned and know nothing about. I am diving into all of them. It is awesome! I am learning history, struggle, the fight for power, submission, obedience, and most importantly how necessary DAILY time with God is to my life.

I am also having a blast taking pictures. Some days I take one picture. Some days I take several. I am saving them all on my computer. The "picture of the day" gets renamed with the day's date. It is so fun! I have always been great about taking my camera places, but I forget to actually use it. Hence, taking a picture a day.

That's what I wanted to share with you. I would love to know if any of you made resolutions. If so, how are they going? Can I pray for you? Encourage you? Please share....

  1. Yea!! That is awesome! I am encouraged by our Bible reading plan for a year. It is something I would like to do as well!
Well, my goal of Scripture memorization is going awesome, but my fitness goal, not so good. I did do two days of walking last week-- not the 4 I hoped for. Making it a priority is difficult when I have so many other areas calling my attention.
Thank you for your encouraging words, friend! I am so glad I get to see you two times a week at Upward:)

  2. Oh Kristi, good for you. Honestly if I had not started a reading routine during our Beth Moore study I don't know how this would be happening. I have tried in the past to read my Bible for consecutive days, but would not make it more than a week or 2. As for your exercise keep adding to it. Pray about it, as will I, and God will help to make time.

  3. woohoo dina! So glad you're keeping it up- 30 days makes a habit right? So far mine are going great. I've exercised at least 3 days each week and I have my first two scriptures down. I'd love prayer for continued persistence beacause this is about the time when it gets kind of blah and harder...

  4. Dina, that is terrific! If you made it 30 days, you can make it 60!

You know how one blog leads to another? Well, somewhere, I found this Productivity 521, and it has a chart you can print to record your goals. It is a good reminder when you see it hanging on your refrigerator and have to make a check or leave it blank!

My verse for February 1st is, "Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I NEVER forget all the good things He does for me. He forgives my sins and heals my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. (Isn't He wonderful?) He fills my life with good things. He restores my youth like the eagle's. Ps. 103:2-5 Wow! After reading that, how can you not say, "Praise God!!"

  5. Shannon, yay for you! Keep up the great routine (it is inspiring). I will be praying for you. Just remember that staying active is good for you AND your kiddos. What an awesome example you are setting!

Cheryl, what a wonderful chunk of scripture. Thanks for sharing. I agree with you...can't not praise God after that!
